The problem with a countdown
Most "pause before you buy" tools on the market work the same way: a countdown timer. Thirty seconds, sixty seconds, sometimes longer. It sounds reasonable, but waiting is passive. A phone can sit face-down until the number hits zero without a single thought given to the purchase itself. Not Yet takes a different approach. Instead of a timer to wait out, it shows a random code and requires it to be retyped exactly, a small amount of real, active attention that a countdown simply doesn't ask for. Nothing is cached or reused: reload the page, get a brand new code.
Built for more than one shopper
Not Yet was designed around three real situations, not just one. For someone who shops on impulse, it buys back the few seconds a "Buy Now" button usually skips past. For a parent setting up a family member's device, Guard Mode adds a PIN to Not Yet's own settings, so protection can't be quietly switched off. For couples sharing a device or a budget, the same pause applies evenly to both, without either partner needing to police the other in the moment. A separate, opt-in category for gambling and betting sites extends the same mechanism to that use case, with real precedent from harm-reduction tools like Gamban and BetBlocker.
What's free, and what's Premium
Core blocking, the typed-code unlock, automatic checkout detection across 13 built-in categories, and a permanent, free "Quiet Place" to go instead of buying are all free on both Safari and Chrome, with no account and no ads. A Safari-only Premium tier (subscription or one-time lifetime purchase) adds Guard Mode, custom reflection prompts, custom themes, a photo pinboard, a full weekly recap with trend charts, and Home Screen widgets. Chrome ships as a single, fully free build with no Premium tier at all, a deliberate choice: Chrome offers no way to sell a paid extension without standing up a license server, which would contradict Not Yet's core privacy claim.
No server, nothing collected
Not Yet makes no network requests of its own. Every setting, every counter, and every PIN (stored only as a cryptographic hash) stays on the device it was set on. There is no account, no ad SDK, no analytics service, and nothing to breach, subpoena, or sell, because nothing ever leaves the device in the first place.
