A Pause, Right Before You Buy

Not Yet blocks checkout and payment pages until you retype a freshly generated code, character for character. Not a countdown you can wait out. Not a snooze button you tap through without thinking. Built for anyone who wants a real moment before spending, whether that's your own impulse buying, a family member's, or a partner's shared budget.

Try Place order, or a wallet button, below. Then switch Not Yet on to see the difference.

How it works

Four steps, every single time

No setup beyond picking what to pause. From there, every checkout page gets the same treatment, automatically.

1

Not Yet spots the checkout button

A checkout or payment page, matched automatically the moment it loads. No list of stores to maintain yourself.

2

You go to complete a purchase

You click through toward checkout the same way you always would, nothing different yet.

3

Not Yet pauses the moment

Retype a fresh code, answer a reflection prompt, or wait out a timer, whichever you picked in Settings.

4

You decide, clearly

Finish the purchase if you still want to, or head to your Quiet Place instead. Either way, you'll have actually thought about it, and often end up spending less along the way.

Why Not Yet exists

Impulse doesn't wait for a timer to run out

A countdown just asks you to wait it out, which most people do without thinking about anything in particular. A "snooze" button is worse: tap it once and the moment's already gone. Not Yet works differently. It shows a random code and asks you to retype it, character for character, before a checkout or payment page will continue. Nothing is cached or reused: reload the page and you get a brand new code. The point is a genuine pause, not a puzzle you solve once and remember.

Free tier

Free, genuinely

No account, no ads, and nothing collected, ever. Everything below works with no purchase at all, on both Safari and Chrome.

Automatic checkout detectionCatches a checkout page by the page itself (its address and button text), on any site, not just the categories you've picked. If it catches the same site three separate days running, it adds that site to your list on its own. It only ever adds protection this way, never removes it.

Recognizes checkout and payment pages on its own. Nothing to configure per site.

The typed-code unlock

A fresh, random code every time. Never cached, never reused, and never removable.

Your own Quiet Place

A calm destination every block screen can send you to instead of buying. Never paywalled.

13 built-in categories

Shopping, subscriptions, and more, plus your own custom sites, all still limited to checkout pages only.

Two ways to restrict a site

Pause a site for a while (1 to 24 hours, still checkout-only), or a real block on your worst-offender sites: redirected away the moment you land, no code, no way through until you remove it yourself.

Gambling & betting, opt-in

A dedicated category you turn on yourself, with credible precedent (Gamban, BetBlocker).

Reflection prompts or a timer

If retyping a code isn't the friction that works for you, pick one of the other two in Settings.

Basic stats

How many times you've paused, and a running total of what you chose not to spend.

Four calm color themes

No red, no alarm palette anywhere. Shame doesn't help, so the app doesn't use it.

Your Quiet Place

Somewhere to go instead of buying

Every block screen's main way out isn't "wait" or "try again," it's a real destination: a short mood check-in, a few activities to do instead, and a layout you can rearrange to fit how you actually use it. It's free on both platforms, permanently, because the way out of a block should never come with a purchase prompt attached.

  • Mood check-in and built-in or custom activities
  • Rearrange the page's layout yourself, arrow by arrow

Your Recap

See the pattern, not just the moment

Every pause gets logged locally, on your own device, and the free recap shows your basic totals. Premium unlocks the full picture: a weekly trend chart like the one shown here, a category breakdown of where pauses actually happen, a log of your own mood and "proud of that" notes, and a shareable image if you want to show your own progress.

  • Free: total times paused, total not spent
  • Premium: weekly trend chart and category breakdown
  • Premium: mood log, shareable recap image, Home Screen widgets

A little more friction, on purpose

A monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime unlock. Chrome has no way to sell an extension without a license server, so it stays fully free instead, on purpose, with no locked UI anywhere.

Guard Mode

A PIN on your own settingsWith it on, a PIN is needed before loosening anything, like turning off a category or removing a site. If a subscription ever lapses, Guard Mode stays fully on. Your own PIN always opens it, and a built-in master reset is the only other way in if you forget it.

Protects your settings from your own impulses. Never locks you out for a lapsed subscription.

Reflection

Write your own prompts

Swap the built-in reflection questions for ones written in your own words.

Themes

Custom gradient themes

Pick your own two colors; the app derives a full accessible palette from them.

Quiet Place

The photo pinboard

Pin your own images to your Quiet Place. Shown above.

Buy-button shield

Wallet & Buy Now, Pay Later

Extends the shield to Apple Pay, Klarna, and similar buttons, not just the main checkout button.

Widgets

Soon

More on the way

New Premium features land here first. The lifetime purchase already includes every one of them, no second purchase, ever.

Guard Mode never locks you out for a lapsed subscription. Your own PIN always opens it.

Built for a pause, not a punishment

Anyone who shops on impulse

A checkout page that's one tap away from a purchase you'll second-guess an hour later. Not Yet buys back the few seconds that a "Buy Now" button usually skips right past.

Parents protecting a family member's device

Guard Mode puts a PIN on Not Yet's own settings, so a family member can't quietly turn protection off on their own device. Recommended settings are built right into Setup & Help.

Spouses and partners sharing a budget

A real pause before either of you completes a purchase on a shared device, without either of you needing to police the other in the moment.

Anyone pausing gambling or betting sites

A real, opt-in category with credible precedent (Gamban, BetBlocker). Not Yet doesn't simulate or facilitate anything, it only ever pauses access, the same as it does for ordinary checkout pages.

Frequently asked questions

Is Not Yet free?

Yes. The core blocking, the code unlock, and your Quiet Place are all completely free on both Safari and Chrome, with no account required. A Safari-only Premium unlock adds Guard Mode, custom themes, a full recap, widgets, and more.

Does Not Yet collect my data?

No. Not Yet has no server and makes no network requests to us at all. Every setting, counter, and PIN hash stays on your own device. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.

Can I still buy something if I really mean to?

Yes, always. Not Yet is a friction tool, not a hard block: retyping the code, answering a reflection prompt, or waiting out a timer all let a purchase through, by design. It's meant to buy a moment of thought, not stop you outright.

What is Guard Mode?

A PIN you set yourself that protects your own settings from your own impulses, like turning off a category mid-browse. If a subscription ever lapses, Guard Mode stays fully on. Your own PIN always opens it, and a built-in master reset is the only other way in if you forget it.

What's on the recap page?

A summary of your own local activity: how many times you've paused, and what you chose not to spend, for free. Premium adds a weekly trend chart, a category breakdown of where pauses happen most, a log of your own mood and "proud of that" notes, and a shareable image.

What's the pinboard in the Quiet Place?

A Premium feature: pin your own photos to your Quiet Place so it actually feels like yours, drag to reposition, with backup and restore built in. The Quiet Place itself, its mood check-in, and its activities are free either way.

Is this a treatment program?

No. Not Yet is a pause and friction tool, not a substitute for professional financial, medical, or mental health advice. If you're dealing with compulsive spending or gambling and need more than a pause, please talk to a qualified professional or a relevant support organization.

Does it work the same in Chrome?

The core blocking is identical. Chrome ships as a single, fully free build with no Premium tier at all, since Chrome has no built-in way to sell an extension without standing up a license server, and Not Yet doesn't run one.

Does this work in Private Browsing or Incognito?

Not by default, and it's not something Not Yet can change on its own. Safari and Chrome both keep every extension out of a private window unless you turn that on yourself, for that extension specifically, the same rule for every extension, not just this one. The extension's own Setup & Help walks through the exact toggle on each browser if you want blocking to hold there too.

What if checkout has several steps?

Confirming a real purchase (the final "Are you sure?" screen, after the code, prompt, or timer) opens a short, fixed grace window on that one site, so a shipping page, a payment page, and a confirmation page don't each ask for a fresh pause. It's not a setting you can extend or turn on ahead of time, just a quiet acknowledgment that one purchase decision shouldn't repeat the same pause five times.
